The Aonikenk called "Desolate place where the devil dwells", these places that seem to have a lunar aspect.

Low-rise volcanic cones, caves, various craters, basalt walls and lava scoria tell the story of recent eruptions.

In the fauna of the place you can find the guanaco, gray fox, Patagonian chingue, puma, armadillo and red fox.

Among the birds, the carancho, kestrel, queltehue, caiquén, bandurria, harrier, vari, moorish eagle with nesting, peregrine falcon and ñandú.

From the aquatic birds it is possible to observe the flamingo, the coscoroba swan, the small mattress duck and the large mattress duck, the beach duck and the double-collared plover.

In terms of flower, there are shrubby species such as murtilla, romerillo, gray bush, black bush, yellow bush, paramela and calafate.

ACCESS TO THE PARK

  • From the city of Punta Arenas, continue to the northwest, along the international route CH-255, which goes to the Monte Aymond Border Crossing. At km. 168 you must take the detour, it is 26 km to the park.

  • You can also take a bus that leaves from the rural terminal of the city of Punta Arenas, bound for Villa Punta Delgada, from there it is 26 km to get to the park.

  • There are several tour operators that will take you to the park for the day.

  • Low Season (May-September): Closed to visitors .
