The Kawésqar Park incorporates the former Alacalufes forest reserve, its varied landscapes are made up of mountain ranges, forests, glaciers, fjords, lakes, wetlands and valleys, it also stands out for the protection of the Culpeo fox and the huemul.

In marine environments, you can see specimens of leopard seals, whales, southern and Chilean dolphins.

You can see birds such as the fío-fío, the southern churrín and the giant woodpecker.

In terms of flora, there are the evergreen trees, such as the coigüe de Magallanes, the Guaitecas cypress and cinnamon.

HOW TO GET

ACCESS TO THE PARK

  • The only way to access the Kawésqar Park is by sea.

  • From Punta Arenas you can take Route 9 until you reach Puerto Natales, it is about 248 kms. From this place there are different options to navigate.

  • In high season there are direct flights available to Puerto Natales, from where you can organize your next visit to the park.

RATES

  • High Season (October-April): National child (age equal to and less than 11 years old) income released.

  • National adolescent (12 to 17 years old) $ 2,000. National adult $ 4,000.

  • National elderly (over 60 years) income released.

  • National disabled child (age equal to and less than 11 years old) released income.

  • National disabled adolescent (12 to 17 years old) income released.

  • Disabled national adult $ 2,000.

  • National elderly disabled person (over 60 years) income released.

  • Foreign child (age equal to and less than 11 years) income released.

  • Foreign adolescent (12 to 17 years old) $ 4,000.

  • Foreign adult and senior citizen (includes disabled) $ 8,000.

  • In the Low Season (May-September) it is closed to visitors.

SERVICES WITHIN THE PARK

  • The geographical and climatic characteristics mean that the main activities that can be carried out in the Kawésqar Park are sailing in larger and smaller boats through the interior channels of the Reserve, as well as trekking.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • The Kawésqar Park does not have infrastructure such as bathrooms, accommodation, camping, restaurant, camping area or information center.

  • The park is only open from October to April.

  • It is an extremely rainy area, in the northern area of the park the climate is cold temperate with high humidity with an average annual temperature of 7.2 degrees centigrade.

  • The southern zone has an isothermal tundra climate, with a slightly lower annual average temperature: 6.5 degrees Celsius.
