Venture to see the vastness of the Drake Sea and navigate where hundreds of sailors faced extreme weather conditions , marvel at the marine and terrestrial biodiversity that surrounds you.

 

The National Park is part of the Cabo de Hornos Biosphere Reserve declared by Unesco.

It protects 2,967,036 hectares of sea, being the first protected wild area in Chile that includes terrestrial and marine ecosystems together.

 

The fauna is varied, among them you can find the leopard seal, dolphins, whales, sea lions, chungungo, elephant seal, southern dolphin and Chilean dolphin.

Among the birds are the Dominican gull and giant petrel.

 

In terms of flora, this subantarctic forest grows stocky, as an adaptation and protection against hurricane winds, among them are the Magallanes coigüe, cinnamon, leñadura and ñirre.

HOW TO GET

ACCESS TO THE PARK

  • From Puerto Williams it can be accessed after twelve hours of navigation.

  • From Punta Arenas you can take a cruise to make the route.

RATES

  • High Season (October-April): National child (age equal to and less than 11 years old) income released.

  • National adolescent (12 to 17 years old) $ 2,000.

  • National adult $ 4,000.

  • National elderly (over 60 years) income released.

  • National disabled child (age equal to and less than 11 years old) released income.

  • National disabled adolescent (12 to 17 years old) income released.

  • Disabled national adult $ 2,000.

  • National elderly disabled person (over 60 years) income released.

  • Foreign child (age equal to and less than 11 years) income released.

  • Foreign adolescent (12 to 17 years old) $ 4,000.

  • Foreign adult and senior citizen (includes disabled) $ 8,000.

  • Low Season (May-September) Closed to visitors.

SERVICES WITHIN THE PARK

  • The park has a small dock for boats that allows people to disembark on Hornos Island. From this place a pedestrian walkway extends that goes into the island until it reaches the highest point, where the Hornos Lighthouse and the southernmost City Hall in the world are located.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • The park does not have infrastructure such as bathrooms, accommodation, camping, restaurant, information center or picnic area.

  • Winds can reach 150 km / h.

  • Temperatures are low so you should wear suitable clothing and footwear.
